Lounge Spotlight: Narita International Airport
One of the many benefits to frequent flyers of global airline alliances is access to airport lounges. In most cases, SkyTeam’s international first or business class passengers and SkyTeam Elite Plus members as well as a guest have complimentary access to SkyTeam lounges on day of travel when flying on or connecting to/from an international flight operated by a SkyTeam carrier.
SkyTeam offers more than 400 SkyTeam lounges around the world that enable passengers to continue their business in specially-equipped workspaces and enjoy a moment to rest. Whether relaxing in the SkyTeam lounge in Memphis or any of the nine lounges available at Paris’s Charles de Gaulle airport, passengers enjoy the SkyTeam lounge experience.
As a major connecting point for air traffic between Asia and the Americas, Tokyo’s Narita International Airport is the second-busiest airport in Japan. Today, we spotlight the SkyTeam member lounges at Narita International Airport.

SkyTeam travelers flying through Tokyo’s Narita International Airport are in for a surprise at the Northwest Airlines lounge, located on the fourth floor of Satellite 2. Thanks to a renovation in April 2008, the private airport lounge offers customers a fresh look and the convenience of home. The lounge now offers cutting-edge technology, design, equipment and services for passengers to enjoy prior to boarding.
Customers will enjoy:
- Additional seating. Space per seat increased by 35 percent, offering greater comfort.
- Improved business center. Now equipped with 32 iMacs supporting 12 languages.
- Enhanced food service. Most times when ordering a meal, customers have access to fresh food, including sushi, all prepared under the supervision of an executive chef.
- Additional service rooms.
o Family room – a glass-walled playroom for children to occupy themselves while parents have the comfort of seeing their children at play.
o VIP room – a private space available by advance reservation only for important meetings being held at the lounge.
o Shower rooms – available for passenger refreshment.
Along with the Northwest lounge, SkyTeam has several other member airline lounges at Narita International Airport including the Korean Air KAL lounge, located in Terminal 1, Satellite 2, and the new Air France lounge, which opened in summer 2007. Covering over 400 sq. m, with seating capacity of 140 passengers, this lounge is designed to ensure that customers can adapt the space to their own specific needs and desires, offering them a range of modern facilities and giving them the possibility to do as they please.
